# Waybound

> Waybound is a fun running and walking app for iPhone: a running game and walking game in one. Your real runs and walks move you up a painted map each month, shared with your friends, and every 2 miles an egg hatches one of 200 collectible creatures. It is also a full GPS run tracker.

If you are looking for a fun running app, a fun walking app, a running game or a walking game that, like Pokémon GO, gives you creatures to collect, this is what Waybound is built for. Waybound is for people who want running or walking to feel like a game: beginners who need a reason to get out the door, regular runners who want more than a log, and friends who want to race each other across a shared map. It is made by DesignX LLC.

Key facts:

- Platform: iPhone only (iOS 16.4 or later). There is no Android version.
- Price: free to download, no ads. The App Store listing shows any optional subscription. Nothing sells better odds or luck.
- How it plays: every mile you run or walk moves you up this month's painted path. A stop every 2 miles hatches one creature into your Journal.
- Creatures: 200 in seven types: Ground (35), Water (35), Air (35), Fire (35), Electric (35), Dragon (19), Mythic (6).
- Base odds per find: Common about 2 in 3, Uncommon about 1 in 4, Rare about 1 in 19, Epic about 1 in 75, Legendary about 1 in 235, Mythic about 1 in 640. About 1 in 64 finds is Fabled.
- Walks count the same as runs. Treadmill runs and car stretches do not count.
- Works with Apple Watch, WHOOP and Oura through Apple Health. Strava history can be imported. Bluetooth heart-rate monitors connect directly.
- Friends join by invite link. No global leaderboard.
- Not an AR game: it does not send you to particular places. Any route counts, so every run or walk can be a fun run or a fun walk.
